At Dr. Frank Orthotics, we do not believe in scanners or software that produce generic interpretations of foot shapes. True custom orthotics should match the exact shapes of each patient’s foot, with the subtalar joint neutral and midtarsal joint locked positions properly captured, which cannot be achieved with traditional scanners.
Dr. Bongiovanni uses a mold technique, blending the craftsmanship taught by his father with proven podiatric principles. Every device is handmade with traditional casting and positive plaster molds, never mirrored, acknowledging that no two feet are identical. High trim lines, precise heating of materials, and meticulous hand-finishing ensure the highest quality.
Metatarsal pads and accommodations are carved by hand for gradual, tolerable support and exact offloading. Only premium materials sourced domestically and from Europe are used. Dr. Bongiovanni personally designed and refined every step of the manufacturing process, combining modern innovations with old-world craftsmanship.
Our technique maintains arch height consistent with the subtalar joint neutral position while positioning the heel correctly, which is a biomechanical principle that sets our lab apart and exceeds traditional Root methods.
